Govt inks defence equipment contracts worth INR 50.8 bln with HAL, Russia co

NEW DELHI – The Ministry of Defence signed contracts worth INR 50.83 billion for six Advanced Light Helicopters Mk-II for the Indian Coast Guard and Surface-to-Air Vertical Launch - Shtil missiles for the Indian Navy on Tuesday. The contract for ALH Mk-II valued at INR 29.01 billion was inked with Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd. under the buy Indian-Indigenously Designed Developed and Manufactured category, a government release said.
The contract for the procurement of Surface-to-Air Vertical Launch missiles and associated missile holding frames, valued at INR 21.82 billion, has been signed with JSC Rosoboronexport, Russian Federation. "The acquisition is intended to substantially enhance the air defence capabilities of frontline warships against a wide spectrum of aerial threats," the release said. End
