Bajaj Auto's Feb despatches grow at 27-month high of 27% to 448,259 units

NEW DELHI – Bajaj Auto Ltd. sold 448,259 automobiles to dealerships in India and overseas in February, up 27% on year, marking the fastest growth in the last 27 months. The growth was strong in domestic and overseas markets and for two-wheelers and commercial vehicles, according to the company's exchange filing Monday.
Bajaj Auto sold 232,581 automobiles in India in February, up 27% on year but down 11% on month. Its exports stood at 215,678 units in February, up 28% on year but flat on month.
Two-wheeler sales of the Chetak-maker climbed 27% on year to 379,921 units. Domestic sales grew 27% on year but fell 13% on month to 186,164 units. The company exported 193,757 two-wheelers last month, up 26% on year and 1.1% on month.
Wholesale sales of its commercial vehicles grew almost 30% on year to 68,338 units. Of this, domestic sales grew 25% on year to 46,417 units, while exports grew 43% on year to 21,921 units.
In Apr-Feb, Bajaj Auto sold 4.7 million automobiles in India and overseas, up 9% on year. Domestic wholesale sales in this period grew only 1.4% on year to 2.6 million units, while exports supported almost all of the growth at 2.1 million units, up 21% on year.
For the quarter ended December, Bajaj Auto reported a net profit of INR 25.03 billion on a revenue of INR 152.20 billion. At 1051 IST, shares of the company traded at INR 9,718 on National Stock Exchange, down 2.5%. End
