Maruti Suzuki Feb production up 19% YoY on higher utility vehicles' output

MUMBAI – Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. produced 223,507 vehicles in February, over 19% higher than the same month previous year. The company produced more utility vehicles, which includes the likes of Brezza, Ertiga, e-Vitara, but production of smaller cars did not rise much compared with to the previous year.
Its production of utility vehicles rose over 54% on year to 102,834 units in February. It produced 103,867 units of mini and compact segment cars, only 2% higher than the same month previous year. Light commercial vehicle production was up 14% to 3,895 units.
Sunday, Maruti Suzuki said it sold 213,995 automobiles to dealerships in February, up 7% on year but down almost 10% on month. The number of cars the company sold in February was the lowest in five months. The company maintained that demand for cars across segments remains strong but said capacity constraints had limited its ability to service demand in all segments.
For the December quarter, Maruti Suzuki had reported a net profit of INR 37.94 billion on a revenue of INR 498.92 billion. Friday, its shares had closed 2.3% lower at INR 14,857 on the National Stock Exchange. End
