MUMBAI – Bharti Airtel Ltd. will combine Google's Rich Communications Services platform with its network, the Indian company said in an exchange filing Sunday. The partnership will help to improve spam protection in India and reduce digital fraud, the company said.
"While traditional mobile networks that offer messaging operate under safety standards and telco-grade (telecom company-grade) safeguards, many other non telco communication platforms and standalone apps (applications) lack these safeguards," the company said in its filing. "This innovative partnership between Airtel and Google is designed to bridge that gap, extending the accountability of telecom-grade safeguards to the modern messaging experience."
The platform will offer real-time checks to validate the message sender's identity, respect users' do-not-disturb preferences, block spam business messages, filter malicious domains, and throttle messages from individual senders flagged by spam filters. Messages using this platform will be visible on Google Messages.
For the December quarter, on a consolidated basis, Bharti Airtel had reported a net profit of INR 66.31 billion on a revenue of INR 539.82 billion. Friday, its shares had ended nearly 3% lower at INR 1,879.30 on the National Stock Exchange. End
