--RBI: Weighted avg rate on new bank deposits 5.66% Jan, down 1 bp from Dec 

 

NEW DELHI – The weighted average lending rate on fresh rupee loans of scheduled commercial banks rose 39 basis points month on month to 8.67% in January, data released by the Reserve Bank of India on Friday showed.

 

The weighted average lending rate on fresh rupee loans by foreign banks fell by 36 bp on month to 7.81% in January. The weighted average lending rate of private sector banks rose 18 bps on month to 9.32% in January and that of public sector banks rose 44 bps to 8.05%.

 

The weighted average lending rate on outstanding rupee loans of scheduled commercial banks fell 2 bps on month to 9.04% in JanuaryThe one-year median marginal cost of funds-based lending rate of scheduled commercial banks rose to 8.45% in February from 8.40% in January.

 

The weighted average rate on fresh rupee term deposits of scheduled commercial banks fell by 1 bps to 5.66% in January and the weighted average rate on outstanding rupee term deposits fell by 4 bps to 6.65% in January. End
