MUMBAI – The Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India has issued a show-cause notice to Niva Bupa Health Insurance Co. Ltd. over "business and operation aspect" following an inspection in February last year, the company said in an exchange filing Friday. Niva Bupa did not give further details about the notice.
IRDAI has also advised the company to take action against violations of three master circulars--health insurance business, protection of policyholders' interest, and corporate governance. The company said it is in the process of implementing the suggestions.
For the December quarter, Niva Bupa Health had reported a net loss of INR 876.40 million on a total income of INR 15.50 billion. Friday, its shares closed nearly 2% lower at INR 75.09 on the National Stock Exchange. End
