--FSIB recommends Hitesh Rameshchandra Joshi for position of CMD in GIC
NEW DELHI – The Financial Services Institutions Bureau has recommended Hitesh Ramesh Chandra Joshi for the position of chairman and managing director in General Insurance Corp. of India, the bureau said Tuesday.
The government had appointed Joshi as interim chairman and managing director of General Insurance Corp. from Oct. 1 for three months after the end of Ramaswamy Narayanan's tenure as head of the reinsurance company. Joshi's interm tenure was later extended till the end of March. The bureau interacted with five candidates Tuesday before selecting Joshi for the position.
Joshi was previously executive director at General Insurance Corp. from July 2024. He is a post-graduate in accountancy and holds a master's degree in financial management.
General Insurance Corp. of India reported a net profit of INR 15.19 billion for the December quarter, down 6% on year. Shares of the company Tuesday closed 1% lower at INR 386.10 on the National Stock Exchange. End
