NEW DELHI – The Union Cabinet Tuesday approved a nearly 5% hike in the minimum support price of raw jute for the 2026-27 (Jul-Jun) season. The minimum support price of raw jute has been hiked by INR 275 per 100 kg to INR 5,925 per 100 kg, Union Minister of Railways, Ashwini Vaishnaw said briefing the media after the Cabinet meeting.
The increase in the MSP would ensure a return of 61.8% over the all-India weighted average cost of production, according to an official release. The government has increased jute MSP by 2.5 times from INR 2,400 per 100 kg in 2014-15 to INR 5,925 per 100 kg in 2026-27, it added. The hike will cost the government INR 4.3 billion, the minister said during the briefing. End
