Rainfall, thunderstorm likely in parts of Tamil Nadu, Kerala Fri-Sun - IMD

MUMBAI – Rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning is expected over parts of Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Kerala from Friday to Sunday due to the presence of a low pressure area over the south Bay of Bengal, the India Meteorological Department said. This weather system is likely to move west-northwestwards towards Sri Lanka and become more marked in the next 24 hours, the weather department said.
Currently, a western disturbance acting as a cyclonic circulation lies over southeast Pakistan and the adjoining west Rajasthan, the weather department said. This is expected to cause rainfall or snowfall over parts of Uttarakhand till Thursday, the department said.
Minimum temperature over northwest India is expected to gradually fall by 2–4 degrees Celsius in the next 48 hours, the weather bureau said. In east India, no significant change in minimum temperature is expected in the next two days, after which a gradual rise by 2–3 degrees Celsius is likely over the subsequent two days, the bureau said.
In Maharashtra, a gradual rise in minimum temperature by 2–3 degrees Celsius is expected in the next five days, the weather bureau said. In Gujarat, minimum temperatures are expected to rise gradually in the same range in the next three days, the bureau said. No change in minimum temperature is likely over the rest of the country, it said.
Maximum temperatures over the plains of northwest India are likely to fall by 2-4 degrees Celsius over the next 24 hours and thereafter a gradual rise in the same range is expected in the subsequent two days, the weather department said. In central India, no significant change in maximum temperature is likely in the next five days, after which a gradual fall by 2–3 degrees Celsius is expected in the subsequent two days, the department said.
No significant change in maximum temperature is likely over Gujarat, Maharashtra, and Goa in the next two days, after which a gradual rise by 2–3 degrees Celsius is expected in the subsequent 5 days, the weather department said. End
