MUMBAI – Due to the influence of an induced upper air cyclonic circulation over Punjab and its neighbouring areas, hailstorms are likely over parts of Punjab, Haryana, and east Rajasthan on Wednesday, the India Meteorological Department said. An induced cyclonic circulation usually forms under the influence of a primary, upper air disturbance such as a western disturbance.

Currently, two western disturbances acting as cyclonic circulation lie over Pakistan and the adjoining areas. These weather systems are expected to cause rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds over parts of Haryana and Rajasthan till Wednesday and over west Madhya Pradesh on Wednesday, the weather department said.

Dense fog conditions are expected during the morning hours over parts of Odisha and coastal Andhra Pradesh till Thursday, the weather department said.

Minimum temperatures over northwest India are likely to gradually rise 2 degrees Celsius in the next 24 hours, after which a gradual fall 2–3 degrees Celsius is expected in the subsequent two days, the weather bureau said. In central India, minimum temperatures are expected to gradually rise 2–3 degrees Celsius in the next 24 hours, the bureau said.

In Gujarat, the minimum temperature is expected to gradually rise 2–3 degrees Celsius in the next four days, the weather bureau said. The minimum temperature in the southern parts of Maharashtra is likely to rise 2–3 degrees Celsius in the next two days, the bureau said. No significant change in minimum temperatures is likely over east India in the next three days, after which a gradual rise by 2–3 degrees Celsius is seen in the subsequent four days, it said.

No significant change in minimum temperatures is likely over the rest of the country, the weather department said.

Maximum temperatures over the plains of northwest India are likely to fall 2–4 degrees Celsius in the next two days, and thereafter a gradual rise in the same range is expected in the subsequent five days, the weather department said. No significant change in maximum temperatures is likely over Gujarat, Maharashtra, and Goa in the next three days, after which a gradual rise by 2–3 degrees Celsius is expected, the department said.  End
