--Trade secy: Making efforts to implement FTA with UK by Apr

NEW DELHI – India and the UK aim to implement the free trade agreement by April, Commerce Secretary Rajesh Agrawal said. Both the nations had signed the deal in July. While the two sides are making efforts to implement the trade deal by April, it is possible for the timeline to vary a little, Agrawal said.

In India, the Union Cabinet approved trade agreements, which has already been done for the deal with the UK. Meawhile, in the UK, trade deals need approval from Parliament.

Once the UK Parliament approves the trade deal, both the sides will implement it on a mutually agreed date. Under the trade deal, the UK has committed tariff concession on 99% Indian goods. New Delhi also offered duty cut on 90% tariff lines.  End
