MUMBAI – The India Meteorological Department has warned of hot and humid conditions over coastal Karnataka till Friday and over Konkan and Goa during the weekend, for which it has issued a yellow alert. A yellow alert is issued when the maximum temperature is 4.5 degrees Celsius to 6.4 degrees Celsius above normal.

No significant change in minimum temperature is expected over Madhya Pradesh and northwest and northeast India in the next three days, after which a gradual rise by 2–3 degrees Celsius is seen in the subsequent four days. No significant change in minimum temperature is likely over the rest of the country, the weather department said.

Two western disturbances lying to the northwest of the country are likely to begin affecting the western Himalayan region in quick succession--the first one from Friday and the second from Monday, the weather department said. Under its influence, rainfall or snowfall is likely over parts of Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, Gilgit-Baltistan, and Muzaffarabad till Friday, and on Monday and Tuesday, the department said.

The same weather systems are likely to cause similar weather conditions over parts of Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand from Monday to Wednesday, and over Arunachal Pradesh over the weekend, the weather bureau said. The weather systems are also expected to cause rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning over parts of Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, west Uttar Pradesh and north Rajasthan on Tuesday, the bureau said.

Dense fog conditions are expected during the morning hours over parts of Meghalaya on Friday and over Himachal Pradesh on Saturday, the weather department said. Visibility drops to 0–50 metres in "very dense fog" conditions and to 51–200 metres in "dense fog" conditions. End
