MUMBAI – Bank of Baroda Monday informed exchanges that multiple bank unions such as All India Bank Employee's Association, All India Bank Officers Association, and Bank Employees Federation of India will go on stike on Thursday for various issues and demands.
"The bank is taking all the necessary steps for smooth functioning of bank's branches and offices on the day of strike, in the event the strike materialises, the functioning of the branches and offices may be affected," the state-owned bank said. However, the lender did not specify the unions' demands and concerns.
On Jan. 27, the United Forum of Bank Unions had called for a day's nationwide strike, primarily demanding a switch to a five-day work week for banks. On Monday, Bank of Baroda's shares ended up 0.5% at INR 290.60 on the National Stock Exchange. End
