IMD forecasts dense to very dense fog in parts of Uttar Pradesh till Sat

MUMBAI – Dense to very dense fog conditions during the night and morning hours are likely at a few places in Uttar Pradesh till Saturday, the India Meteorological Department said. Dense fog conditions are expected in some parts of Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, west Madhya Pradesh, and Bihar till Friday, over Punjab, Haryana Chandigarh, northeast Rajasthan, sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim, and Jharkhand till Thursday, and over Meghalaya till Saturday, the weather department said.
Visibility drops to 0–50 metres in "very dense fog" conditions and to 51–200 metres in "dense fog" conditions.
Under the influence of two western disturbances, scattered rainfall and snowfall is likely over Jammu-Kashmir, Ladakh, Gilgit-Baltistan, and Muzaffarabad on Thursday and Friday and over Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand on Friday. Another wet spell with scattered rainfall and snowfall is expected over the same region on Monday and Tuesday, the weather department said.
Ground frost is also likely in Uttarakhand till Thursday. Ground frost is a covering of ice, in one of its many forms, produced by the sublimation of water vapour on objects colder than 0 degrees Celsius.
No significant change in the minimum temperature is likely over northwest India during the next seven days, except for Uttar Pradesh, where a gradual fall by 2–3 degrees Celsius is seen in the next two to three days, the weather bureau said. A gradual fall in the minimum temperature by 2–3 degrees Celsius is likely over central India during the next 48 hours, the bureau said.
In east India, a gradual fall in the minimum temperature by 2–4 degrees Celsius is expected during the next three days, the weather department said. No significant change in the minimum temperature is likely over Gujarat during the next four days, after which a gradual fall by 2–3 degrees Celsius is expected in the subsequent three days, the department said.
No significant change in the minimum temperature is likely over Maharashtra during the next 24 hours, after which a gradual fall by 2–3 degrees Celsius is expected for the subsequent two days. No significant change in the minimum temperature is likely over northeast India, according to the weather department. End
