IMD sees hailstorms in parts of Rajasthan Sat-Sun on western disturbance

MUMBAI – Under the influence of a western disturbance acting as a cyclonic circulation over northeast Iran, hailstorms are likely over parts of west Rajasthan on Saturday and over parts of east Rajasthan over the weekend, the India Meteorological Department said. The same weather system is likely to cause a wet spell accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning over parts of northeast and northwest India till Monday, the weather department said. Light rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning are likely over east Uttar Pradesh on Monday and east Madhya Pradesh on Monday and Tuesday, the weather department said.
A second western disturbance is likely to begin affecting northwest India from the second half of Monday, which is also likely to cause similar weather over the region till Tuesday, the department said.
Dense to very dense fog conditions are likely in the morning and night hours over a few parts of Uttar Pradesh till Saturday and dense fog conditions are expected over east Uttar Pradesh till Sunday, the weather department said.
Dense fog conditions are also likely over a few parts of Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, east Rajasthan, Assam, Meghalaya, and Chhattisgarh till Saturday. Similar weather conditions are also expected over parts of north Madhya Pradesh, sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim, Bihar, and Odisha till Sunday, the weather department said. Visibility drops to 0–50 metres in "very dense fog" conditions and to 51–200 metres in "dense fog" conditions.
No significant change in minimum temperature is likely over northwest India over the next 24 hours, after which a gradual rise by 3–5 degrees Celsius is seen in the subsequent three days and thereafter a gradual fall by 2–4 degrees Celsius is likely in the subsequent three days. In central India and Maharashtra, a gradual rise in minimum temperatures by 2–3 degrees Celsius is expected during the next 48 hours, the weather department said.
A rise in the minimum temperature by 2–3 degrees Celsius is expected over Gujarat during the next 24 hours, after which a gradual fall by 3–5 degrees Celsius during the subsequent three days is expected. This is likely to be followed by a rise by 2–3 degrees Celsius during the subsequent three days. No significant change in the minimum temperature is expected over the rest of the country, the weather department said. End
