IMD sees wet spell with thunderstorm in parts of Madhya Pradesh Sun-Mon

MUMBAI – Under the influence of a western disturbance acting as a cyclonic circulation over east Iran, and the formation of another western disturbance in the next three days, a wet spell accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning is likely over parts of Madhya Pradesh on Sunday and Monday and over parts of Chhattisgarh on Monday, the India Meteorological Department said.
The same weather systems are likely to cause fairly widespread rainfall and snowfall accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds over parts of northwest and northeast India till Tuesday, the weather department said.
Dense to very dense fog conditions are likely during the morning and night hours in a few parts of Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, and Uttar Pradesh till Saturday. Dense fog conditions are expected over parts of Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Rajasthan, Odisha, sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim, and Bihar till Saturday and east Uttar Pradesh till Sunday, the weather department said. Visibility drops to 0–50 metres in "very dense fog" conditions and to 51–200 metres in "dense fog" conditions.
Cold wave conditions are expected in some parts of Punjab, Haryana, and Chandigarh on Friday and Saturday, the weather department said. A cold wave condition is when the minimum temperature drops to 10 degrees Celsius or less in the plains and 0 degree Celsius or lower in the hilly regions, according to the weather bureau.
Ground frost conditions are likely in Uttarakhand till Friday. Ground frost is a covering of ice, in one of its many forms, produced by the sublimation of water vapour on objects colder than 0 degree Celsius.
No significant change in the minimum temperature is likely over northwest India during the next two days, after which a gradual rise by 3–5 degrees Celsius is expected during the subsequent three days and thereafter a gradual fall by 2–4 degrees Celsius is likely in the subsequent two days. In central India, a gradual rise in the minimum temperature by 2–3 degrees Celsius is expected during the next 24 hours. Afterwards, a gradual fall in the same range is expected in the subsequent two days, the weather department said.
A gradual rise in the minimum temperature by 2–4 degrees Celsius is expected over Maharashtra during the next four days, the weather bureau said. In Gujarat, a rise in the minimum temperature by 3–5 degrees Celsius is expected over the next two days, after which a gradual fall by 2–3 degrees Celsius is seen in the subsequent three days. This is likely to be followed by a rise by 2–3 degrees Celsius in the subsequent two days.
No significant change in the minimum temperature is likely over the rest of the country, the weather department said. End
