HYDERABAD – Boeing expects India's air passenger traffic to grow at a compounded annual rate of 7% till 2044, supported by steady macroeconomic expansion and rising air travel demand, Ashwani Naidu, managing director–commercial marketing, Boeing Commercial Airplanes, said. Speaking at a press conference at Wings India 2026, he said India needs a good number of new aircraft as well substantial manpower such as pilots and technical staff.

Boeing estimates India's economy to expand at a CAGR of 5.1% over the next 20 years. Aviation contributed $54 billion to India's GDP in 2024 and supported 7.7 million jobs, although nearly 30% of the country's aviation market remains concentrated in Delhi and Mumbai. Boeing projects that India and the South Asian region will require 3,290 new aircraft by 2044, along with 45,000 pilots, 45,000 technicians, and 51,000 cabin crew to support future growth.

Naidu said Boeing was not facing delivery delays for Indian airlines and typically delivered two aircraft a month to its Indian partners. Boeing has ramped up production capacity to manufacture 42 Boeing 737 MAX aircraft per month. The company expects to deliver 24–25 aircraft to Indian customers in 2026. Indian carriers are also expected to operate 17 freighter aircraft in 2026, reflecting the growing demand for air cargo services.  End
