MUMBAI – Delhi is expected to witness a notable shift in weather conditions. Parameters such as wind, humidity, temperature, cloud cover, and rainfall are expected to change favourably from Thursday for a decent spell of wet weather on Friday, Skymet said. Delhi has witnessed possibly one of the longest dry spells in the recent past. The city last recorded measurable rainfall on Oct. 8, the agency said. Moderate rainfall is likely to commence during the early hours of Friday, it said.
An active western disturbance has already arrived over Jammu and Kashmir. Cloudy spikes prevail across most of the region and have reached the foothills of Punjab as well. It is accompanied by a cyclonic circulation over parts of west Rajasthan. An upper-air trough is positioned in the rear of the system to support and strengthen the activity. Both the systems are expected to move eastward and work in tandem to bring typical winter weather across the mountains and plain, it said.
Temperatures are likely to rise in the early hours of Friday and are expected to enter the double-digit mark for only the second time this month so far. Winds are expected to turn easterly, slightly warmer and more humid compared to the past few days. Precipitation is expected to begin on a mild note during the very early hours of Friday, Skymet said. Intermittent rain is likely thereafter through the day. Rain and thundershowers are likely to intensify during the first half of the day, it said.
The intensity of weather is likely to reduce by the end of Friday, the agency said. No rainfall is expected on Saturday. However, a thin layer of high and medium clouds, remnants of the weather system, will persist through the day, it said. End
