Oil cos ethanol blending at 20% in Dec, achieves 20% in Nov-Dec

MUMBAI – State-owned oil marketing companies procured 1.024 billion litres of ethanol and blended 902 million litres under the Ethanol Blending Programme, achieving 20% blending in December, according to the Petroleum Planning and Analysis Cell. So far in the 2025-26 ethanol supply year, which began in November, companies have procured 1.478 billion litres of ethanol, blended 1.798 billion litres, and achieved 20% blending on a cumulative basis.
In the 2024-25 ethanol supply year, companies procured 10.40 billion litres of ethanol, blended 10.23 billion litres and achieved 19.2% blending on a cumulative basis.
The government has been blending ethanol with petrol to reduce dependence on crude oil imports, promote green mobility, and support the rural economy. Oil companies have issued orders for the supply of 10.5 billion litres of ethanol in the ethanol year 2025-26.
The government has targeted a cumulative 20% ethanol blending with petrol by the end of October 2026. The government is yet to decide on raising the target for the subsequent period. End
