Cabinet extends govt funding for Atal Pension Yojana till FY31

NEW DELHI – The Union Cabinet Wednesday approved the extension of the government's funding support to Atal Pension Yojana for promotional and developmental activities till 2030-31 (Apr-Mar). The gap funding will help meet viability requirements and ensure sustainability of the scheme, the finance ministry said in a release.
"Sustained government support is essential for continued awareness, capacity building, and bridging of viability gaps to ensure the scheme's sustainability," the ministry said.
Atal Pension Yojana is a voluntary, periodic contribution-based pension system, under which the subscriber receives guaranteed minimum pension of INR 1,000 to INR 5,000 per month starting at the age of 60 until death. The scheme was launched in May 2015 and was implemented from June that year.
As of Monday, over 86.6 million subscribers are enrolled under Atal Pension Yojana. End
