--RBI recognises FEDAI as self-regulatory organisation for authorised dealers

NEW DELHI – The Reserve Bank of India has recognised the Foreign Exchange Dealers' Association of India as a self-regulatory organisation for all authorised dealers, it said in a release. The association had applied for the tag under the regulators' Omnibus Framework for self-regulatory bodies issued in 2024.

"FEDAI has been given one year to bring its functioning and governance framework in line with the Omnibus SRO framework and take necessary steps to extend its membership to all categories of Authorised Dealers," the RBI said.

The foreign exchange dealers' body has already been functioning akin to a self-regulatory organisation, the RBI said. The central bank has so far recognised self-regulatory organisations for payment system operations, financial markets, non-bank finance companies, and financial technology firms. The RBI had also sought applications for a self-regulatory organisation for account aggregators in March.  End
