NEW DELHI – Strong growth in revenue from operations helped Indian Renewable Energy Development Agency Ltd. post a net profit of INR 5.85 billion in the December quarter, up 38% on year. Sequentially, the company's profit rose nearly 7% in the reporting quarter.
IREDA's revenue from operations jumped 25% on year to INR 21.30 billion in the quarter ended Dec. 31. This pushed the non-bank finance company's total income to INR 21.40 billion, up 26% on year. Compared with the September quarter, the company's total income was up 4%.
The state-owned financier's expenses for the December quarter were up nearly 23%, at INR 14.23 billion. This included INR 12.33 billion of finance cost, up 19% on year. The NBFC's impairment on financial instruments rose 24% on year to INR 1.29 billion in the December quarter.
IREDA's net non-performing assets ratio improved sequentially but deteriorated on year to 1.68% as of Dec. 31 from 1.97% as of Sept. 30, and 1.50% a year ago. Similarly, the gross non-performing assets ratio improved to 3.75% from 3.97% at the end of September, but deteriorated from 2.68% as of Dec. 31, 2024.
The company's net profit in Apr-Dec grew a little over 15% to INR 13.81 billion. Its revenue from operations increased 27% to INR 61.34 billion in the first nine months of the financial year. Shares of IREDA, which declared its financial results for Oct-Dec late Friday, ended 3% lower at INR 136.61 on the National Stock Exchange. End
