NTPC, Maharashtra State Power Generation Co to acquire Sinnar Thermal Power

--NTPC consortium to buy Sinnar Thermal Power for INR 38 billion
NEW DELHI – A consortium of state-run NTPC Ltd. and Maharashtra State Power Generation Co. Ltd. will acquire Sinnar Thermal Power Ltd. for INR 38 billion, with each of them holding a 50% stake in Sinnar Thermal Power. After this acquisition, NTPC's installed capacity will increase to 86,987 megawatt and commercial capacity will increase to 85,907 megawatt, the company said in an exchange filing on Friday.
Sinnar Thermal Power is an unlisted public company which is undergoing a corporate insolvency resolution process and owns a thermal power plant with a 1,350 megawatt capacity in Nashik, Maharashtra. The consortium's resolution plan for Sinnar Thermal Power was approved by the National Company Law Tribunal in Delhi on Nov. 28. The acquisition is expected to be completed by Feb. 26.
For the quarter ended September, NTPC had reported net profit of INR 46.53 billion on revenue of INR 391.67 billion. Friday, its shares fell 2.4% on the National Stock Exchange to INR 336. End
