--Tata Consumer Products gets demand of INR 2.69 bln from Bengaluru tax dept
MUMBAI – Tata Consumer Products Ltd. Monday received a tax demand of INR 2.69 billion from the income-tax department, Bengaluru, the company said in an exchange filing Tuesday. The company said the tax demand is majorly due to non-grant of credit of taxes comprising of advance tax, tax deducted at source, foreign tax credit, dividend distribution tax.
The company said it believes the tax demand is infructuous and therefore, not maintainable. Rectification requests have been submitted on receipt of the above intimation and once the rectification application is processed, the company believes that the said demand would be deleted, it said. Tata Consumer said there is no immediate impact on the financials, operations or other activities of the company due to the tax order.
For the September quarter, the company reported a consolidated net profit of INR 4.04 billion on revenue of INR 49.66 billion. Tuesday, shares of the company closed over 2% higher at INR 1,210.40 on the National Stock Exchange. End
