NCDEX invites applications for post of MD & CEO

NEW DELHI – The National Commodity & Derivatives Exchange has invited applications for the post of managing director and chief executive officer, according to an advertisement published on Tuesday. India's leading agricultural commodity derivatives exchange said it is seeking candidates with extensive experience in capital markets, securities, finance, or management to lead the exchange. The appointment will be subject to approvals under the Companies Act, 2013, and the Securities and Exchange Board of India regulations.

 

Arun Raste, who assumed charge as managing director and chief executive officer of NCDEX in June 2021 for a five-year term, is due to retire in 2026. When contacted, Raste declined to comment.

 

As per the eligibility criteria, applicants must be graduates with a professional qualification such as chartered accountant, company secretary, or cost accountant, or hold a master's degree in management, finance, or sales and marketing. Candidates should have at least 20 years of experience, including strong exposure to capital markets and commodity derivatives. While strong knowledge of capital markets is necessary, exposure to agricultural products and services is preferred, the notice said. 

 

The advertisement states that the MD and CEO will be responsible for the strategic and operational leadership of the exchange, including growth initiatives, innovation, regulatory compliance, and stakeholder engagement. The role also involves driving technological advancement and ensuring market integrity.

 

Applicants must be under 62 years of age as on Jun. 30, 2026. The compensation and terms of appointment will be aligned with industry standards and will require shareholder approval.

 

NCDEX operates as a nationwide electronic platform facilitating trade in agricultural commodities and plays a key role in price discovery and risk management for farmers, traders, and other market participants.  End
