KOLKATA - Bajaj Auto Ltd. Friday said its total vehicle sales in December rose 14% on year to 369,809 units. The sales were driven by a 25% on-year increase in exports to 200,436 units. Domestic sales, however, rose just 4% on year to 169,373 units during the month, the Pune-based automaker said in an exchange filing. Commercial vehicle sales increased 17% on year to 59,456 units.
The company had sold a total of 453,273 units in November, up 8% from the year-ago period. Its total commercial vehicle sales rose 37% on year to 73,559 units during November.
For Apr-Dec, total sales rose 6% on year to 3.75 million units. It recorded a 3% on-year fall in domestic sales for Apr-Dec at 2.11 million units. Exports, however, surged 19% on year to 1.64 million units for the period. The auto major's two-wheeler sales rose 4% on year to 3.15 million units in Apr-Dec. Commercial vehicle sales surged 17% on year to 596,448 units.
For the quarter ended Sept. 30, Bajaj Auto reported a net profit of INR 24.80 billion on revenue of INR 149.22 billion. At 1000 IST, shares of the company traded almost 1% lower at INR 9,471 on the National Stock Exchange. End
