Value of UPI transactions up 20% on year to record INR 27.9 tln in Dec

MUMBAI – The number of Unified Payments Interface transactions rose to 21.63 billion in December, marking a 29% rise from a year ago, data from the National Payments Corp. of India showed. In value terms, UPI transactions increased 20% on year to INR 27.97 trillion in December. Both the value and count of transactions hit a record in December after a dip in the previous month.
The number of UPI transactions had recorded a 32% jump on year in November with 22% on-year growth in transaction value, but had fallen from October. The average daily UPI transaction count in December was 698 million, higher than 682 million in November. The average daily transaction value was INR 902.17 billion in December, compared to INR 877.21 billion in November, the data showed. End
