NEW DELHI – The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs on Wednesday approved the construction of a 374-kilometre-long six-lane access-controlled Nashik-Solapur-Akkalkot corridor in Maharashtra for INR 191.42 billion, an official release said. The Cabinet committee also approved widening and strengthening the existing 2-lane highway on NH-326 in Odisha to a 2-lane highway with a paved shoulder, at a cost of INR 15.26 billion.
The greenfield corridor is proposed to be connected to the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway near Vadhawan port interchange, the Agra-Mumbai corridor at Nashik, and the Samruddhi Mahamarg at Pangri. "The primary purpose of the proposed access-controlled six-lane greenfield project corridor is to improve travel efficiency and is expected to reduce travel time by 17 hours and reduce the travel distance by 201 km," the release said.
