NEW DELHI – Bharat Forge Ltd. and PLR Systems Pvt. Ltd. have signed a contract with the Ministry of Defence to provide over 425,000 close quarter battle carbines and accessories to the Indian Army and the Indian Navy for INR 27.7 billion, the ministry said in a press release Tuesday. The contract is part of a larger INR 46.7-billion contract signed by the ministry Tuesday.

 

Separately, the ministry signed a contract worth INR 19 billion with Italy-based company WASS Submarine Systems S.R.L. to procure 48 heavyweight torpedoes for the Kalvari-class submarines operated by the Indian Navy. Deliveries of these torpedoes are expected to begin in April 2028 and be completed by early 2030.

 

The ministry has signed capital contracts worth INR 1.8 trillion for the modernisation of India's armed forces so far in the financial year 2025-26 (Apr-Mar).  End
