Govt issues T-bill calendar for Jan-Mar; to raise INR 3.84 trillion

MUMBAI – The government will raise INR 3.84 trillion by auctioning Treasury bills in Jan-Mar, it said in a release Monday. It will sell INR 1.44 trillion of 91-day T-bills, INR 1.44 trillion of 182-day T-bills, and INR 960 billion of 364-day T-bills. In the March quarter, the weekly borrowing through Treasury bills via 12 weekly auctions will be INR 290 billion from Jan. 7 till Feb. 4, INR 340 billion from Feb. 11 till Mar. 18, and INR 350 billion on Mar. 25, according to the release.
"The Government of India, in consultation with Reserve Bank of India, will have the flexibility to modify the indicated amount and timing for auction of Treasury Bills depending upon the requirements, evolving market conditions, and other relevant factors, after giving due notice to the market," the government said.
The calendar is subject to change depending on circumstances such as intervening holidays. Such changes would be communicated through press releases, the government said. The government had issued a calendar of INR 2.47 trillion for T-bill issuance in Oct-Dec.
