Govt OKs anti-dumping duty on tetrafluoroethane imports from China for 5 yrs

NEW DELHI – The finance ministry has imposed anti-dumping duty on tetrafluoroethane imported from China for a period of five years to prevent dumping of the product and the consequent injury to the domestic industry, according to a government notification. Tetrafluoroethane is a non-flammable compressed gas used widely in the refrigerator and air conditioner industry.
The finance ministry approved anti-dumping duty to the tune of $4,423-$5,251 per tonne of tetrafluoroethane imported from China, as per the notification.
The Directorate General of Trade Remedies had in September recommended anti-dumping duty on import of the product from China. It had initiated an investigation in September 2024 to check the scale of injury to the domestic industry due to its cheap imports. End
