Piramal Fin to sell stake in Shriram Life to Sanlam Group co for INR 6 bln

NEW DELHI – Piramal Finance Ltd. Friday said it will sell its entire 14.72% stake in Shriram Life Insurance Co. Ltd. for INR 6 billion to Sanlam Emerging Markets (Mauritius) Ltd., which is part of the South Africa-based financial services giant, Sanlam Group.
The transaction is expected to close in the March quarter, subject to regulatory approvals, Piramal Finance said in an exchange filing. Shriram Life contributed INR 126.8 million as dividend towards Piramal Finance's revenue in 2024-25 (Apr-Mar), making up for 0.12% of the total revenue.
"This Transaction is aligned with our focus on monetizing non-core assets and we will continue doing the same for our other residual non-core assets," Piramal Finance said. "The proceeds from the Transaction will further strengthen our balance sheet."
The company, formerly known as Piramal Capital and Housing Finance Ltd., reported a consolidated net profit of INR 3.27 billion for the September quarter, up from INR 1.63 billion a year ago. At 1330 IST, shares of the company were up 2% at INR 1,568 on the National Stock Exchange. End
