--RBI: Indian cos raised $2.21 bln via external commercial borrowing in Oct

 

NEW DELHI – Indian companies raised $2.21 billion through external commercial borrowings in October, data by the Reserve Bank of India released Thursday showed. The quantum of total ECB borrowings fell for the fourth consecutive month. Indian companies had raised $2.80 billion in September, $3.27 billion in August, and $3.32 billion in July.

 

Of the total, Indian companies raised $1.92 billion through the automatic route in October, with Agratas Energy Storage Solutions Pvt. Ltd. the largest borrower at $525 million. The company, an electrical equipment manufacturer, raised money for the import of capital goods.

 

The amount raised through the approval route was $290.42 million. Power Finance Corp. Ltd. and Interglobe Aviation Ltd., which operates passenger airline IndiGo, were the only two companies to raise money through the approval route in October.
