IMD says dense to very dense fog likely over Uttar Pradesh Thu to Sat

MUMBAI – Dense to very dense fog is very likely to prevail over Uttar Pradesh during early morning hours from Thursday to Saturday and over parts of the region on Sunday, the India Meteorological Department said Wednesday. Similar weather conditions are likely across parts of Punjab, Haryana, and Chandigarh from Thursday to Saturday, and across most of the region on Sunday and Monday, the weather department said.
Similar weather conditions are also likely over pockets of Uttarakhand from Thursday to Monday. Dense fog is likely during the early morning hours over pockets of northeast India from Tuesday to Monday, over Himachal Pradesh, Bihar, and Jharkhand from Thursday to Saturday, and over Odisha on Thursday and Friday, the weather department said.
The weather department also expects cold wave conditions to prevail over western Madhya Pradesh and Uttarakhand on Thursday and Friday, it said. A cold wave is declared when the minimum temperature at a station is 10 degrees Celsius or less in plains and 0 degrees Celsius or less in hilly regions. Cold wave conditions are very likely over parts of Uttar Pradesh on Thursday and Friday, the department said.
No significant change in minimum temperature is expected over northwest India in the next two days. Thereafter, the minimum temperature is likely to rise by 2 degrees Celsius over the subsequent two days. In Maharashtra, no significant change in minimum temperature is expected over the next three days, and a gradual rise of 2-3 degrees Celsius is expected thereafter over the next four days, the weather department said. A gradual rise of 2-3 degrees Celsius in minimum temperatures is likely across Gujarat over the next three days.
The weather bureau also expects light rainfall or snowfall at many places in Jammu-Kashmir-Ladakh-Gilgit-Baltistan-Muzaffarabad from Thursday to Wednesday and at a few places over Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand during the weekend. End
