NEW DELHI – The government has detected goods and services tax evasion worth INR 30.13 billion through fraudulent registrations using forged Permanent Account Number and Aadhaar credentials in Apr-Oct, Minister of State for Finance Pankaj Chaudhary said Monday. The evasion involved 489 cases, Chaudhary said in a written reply to a question in Lok Sabha.

The government has, over the years, implemented multiple measures to curb GST evasion, including Aadhaar- and biometric-based registration and geo-tagging of businesses.
