MUMBAI – India's foreign exchange reserves rose to $687.26 billion in the week ended Dec. 5 after falling for two consecutive weeks, according to data released by the Reserve Bank of India on Friday. Reserves were up $1.03 billion from a week ago.
Foreign currency assets fell $151 million on week to $556.88 billion as of Dec. 5. The value of the central bank's gold holdings increased $1.19 billion to $106.98 billion in the reporting week.
Calculated in dollar terms, the RBI's foreign exchange reserves also reflect the impact of appreciation or depreciation of currencies other than the dollar, such as the euro, the pound sterling, and the yen, held by the central bank. End
