Just 6.7% of money lost in cyber fraud cases in last 4.5 yrs recovered

NEW DELHI - There has been recovery of only 6.7% of the money lost in cyber fraud cases in the last four and a half years between Apr. 1, 2021 and Sept. 30, 2025, according to Minister of State for Finance Pankaj Chaudhary. There was recovery of only INR 2.39 billion in cyber fraud cases involving a loss of INR 35.88 billion in the mentioned time period.
Out of 583,291 cyber fraud cases reported in the last four and a half years, over 80% are internet banking fraud and online credit card scams, according to Chaudhary's written response to a question in the Lok Sabha. Internet banking fraud cases involved losses amounting to INR 17.30 billion and there were losses of INR 14.47 billion in online credit card scams, Chaudhary said. End
