M&M's domestic vehicle despatches hit record high of 71,624 units in Oct

MUMBAI – Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd.'s domestic sport utility vehicles wholesale sales hit a record high in October, with the company selling 71,624 units. This means a 31% on-year growth and a 27% on-month rise, the company informed exchanges Saturday. The company had launched new editions of its flagship cars Thar, Bolero and Bolero Neo, it said. Overall, the Thar-maker sold 120,142 vehicles to dealerships in India and abroad last month, up over 26% on year and also a record high.
M&M sold 31,741 commercial vehicles to domestic dealerships in October, up 14% on year. Within this, sales of light commercial vehicles with load capacity below 2 tonnes grew 16% on year to 4,599 units. Wholesale sales of light commercial vehicles with a payload capacity between 2 and 3.5 tonnes grew 14% on year to 27,182 units.
M&M sold 12,762 three-wheelers, includeing electric models, up 30% on year but down around 2% on month. In October, the company exported 4,015 automobile units, up 15% on year.
TRACTOR SEGMENT
M&M sold 73,660 tractors in October, up 13% on year. Domestic sales, which make up a lion's share of this, grew 12% on year to 72,071 units. Exports of tractors grew 41% on year to 1,589 units. In Apr-Oct, the company sold 330,685 tractors, up 18% on year. Domestic tractor sales in this period saw an 18% on-year rise at 319,407 units and its exports grew 16% on year to 11,278 units.
APR-OCT SALES
Wholesale sales of sports utility vehicles grew 17% on year to 369,194 units in Apr-Oct. The company sold 66,340 three-wheelers in this period, rising over 32% on year, and exported 24,318 automobile units, up 34% on year. Overall commercial vehicle sales so far this financial year grew over 15% on year to 229,139 units.
Mahindra and Mahindra had reported a net profit of INR 34.50 billion for the June quarter on a revenue of INR 341.43 billion. On Friday, shares of the company closed slightly lower at INR 3,487.20 on the National Stock Exchange. End
