MUMBAI – Growth in bank credit to agriculture and allied activities moderated to 9% as on Sept. 19 from 16.4% a year ago, data released Friday by the Reserve Bank of India showed. Loans to agriculture and allied activities stood at INR 23.62 trillion.

Overall, bank credit growth as of Sept. 19 moderated to 10.4% from 13.0% a year ago. Non-food credit growth fell to 10.2% from 13.0% during the same period. Credit growth to industry slowed to 7.3% from 8.9% a year ago.

Growth in loans to the services sector slowed down to 10.2% on year as on Sept. 19 from 13.7% a year ago. Growth in bank loans to non-banking financial companies decelerated, while it remained robust in segments such as tourism, hotels and restaurants, computer software and commercial real estate, the RBI said.

Growth in personal loans decelerated to 11.7% as on Sept. 19 from 13.4% a year ago. The slowdown was largely due to a moderation in growth in 'other personal loans', 'vehicle loans' and 'credit card outstanding' categories.
