NEW DELHI – The Reserve Bank of India has appointed Sanjay Kumar Hansda as an executive director, the central bank said Thursday. Hansda will look after the Department of Economic and Policy Research, previously overseen by Rajiv Ranjan, who retired as RBI executive director on Sept. 4.
The RBI has appointed Hansda as executive director with effect from Mar. 3. Hansda reported back to the RBI on Monday after the completion of his deputation as senior advisor to India's executive director at the International Monetary Fund, the RBI said.
Hansda has previously served as adviser in the Department of Economic and Policy Research in the RBI. He has also served as adviser in the central bank's Monetary Policy Department, and as officer-in-charge in the Internal Debt Management Department. Hansda had a stint as an analyst at the Bank of England, on a secondment from the RBI.
"As a career central banker and researcher, Hansda has experience of over three decades spanning from banking sector, money and credit, interest rates and liquidity, growth and inflation, financial and capital markets, industry and services, national and monetary accounts, savings and flow of funds, sovereign/sub-sovereign cash and debt management to G-20 issues, and inter-regulatory coordination," the RBI said.
Hansda is a post-graduate in economics from Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi, and has a diploma in financial services management from Jamnalal Bajaj Institute of Management Studies, University of Mumbai. End
