Ather Energy surpasses half-a-million e-scooter production mark

NEW DELHI – Ather Energy Ltd. Monday said its manufacturing plant in Hosur, Tamil Nadu, has crossed the milestone of producing over 500,000 electric scooters. "The milestone vehicle was Ather's flagship family scooter, Rizta, which has rapidly emerged as one of the strongest growth drivers for the brand since its launch last year," the company said in an exchange filing.
Ather Energy's Hosur plant has an installed capacity of 420,000 electric two-wheelers per year, alongside 379,800 battery packs. The unit has two vehicle assembly lines and three battery assembly lines. Ather Energy is currently setting up another manufacturing facility in Maharashtra, which will be built in two phases. The first phase of this new plant is expected to commence production in the next financial year, and is expected to add an annual production capacity of 500,000 units.
Once the Maharashtra plant is fully operational, the installed capacity from both plants is expected to reach a total of 1.42 million electric two-wheelers per year.
The Rizta line-up of scooters forms over one-third of the company's production volumes. "Over the last couple of months, Ather has rapidly expanded its presence in the Middle and North India, with a focus on tier 2 and 3 cities, alongside metro market," the company said.
At 1218 IST, shares of the company traded 3.4% higher at INR 613.35 on the National Stock Exchange. End
