NEW DELHI – The government has sought complaints from consumers on the Initegrated Grievance Redresssal Mechanism portal if companies don't pass on the benefit of the latest cuts in Goods and Services Tax rates. It has also issued a National Consumer Helpline via toll free number 1915 for people to raise complaints and queries.

People can also raise complaints via WhatsApp on 8800001915, the government said Tuesday. On Sept. 3, the GST Council overhauled the indirect tax regime as part of next-generation reforms by collapsing the four-slab GST structure of 5%, 12%, 18%, and 28% to a two-slab structure of 5% and 18%. The council also introduced a new GST rate of 40% on sin and luxury goods. All the new rates, except for those on tobacco products, took effect from Monday.  End
