NEW DELHI – India's foreign exchange reserves rose to the highest level in a year and remained just below the record high figure, according to latest data released by the RBI. FX reserves rose $4.70 billion from the previous week to $702.97 billion as of Sept. 12, data released Friday showed.
Foreign exchange reserves had hit a lifetime high of $704.89 billion in the week ended Sept. 27, 2024. Reserves have risen above the $700-billion mark only twice in 2025. This is also the third consecutive week when reserves have risen.
The value of the central bank's gold holdings increased $2.12 billion to $92.42 billion in the reported week, an all-time high. Foreign currency assets rose $2.54 billion on week to a seven-week high of $587.01 billion as of Sept. 12.
Calculated in dollar terms, the central bank's foreign exchange reserves also reflect the impact of appreciation or depreciation of currencies other than the dollar, such as the euro, the pound sterling, and the yen, held by the RBI. End
