Govt approves Miniratna status to 3 defence PSUs

NEW DELHI – The government has granted Miniratna Category-I status to Munitions India Ltd., Armoured Vehicles Nigam Ltd., and India Optel Ltd., a government release said Thursday. The central public sector companies which have made profit in the last three years continuously, while pre-tax profit is INR 300 million or more in at least one of the three years and have a positive net worth are eligible to be considered for grant of Miniratna-I status.

 

Munitions India's sales increased to INR 82.14 billion in 2024-25 (Apr-Mar) from INR 33.14 billion in FY22. Out of the total, INR 30.81 billion worth of equipment was exported to various nations. The company produces small, medium and high calibre ammunition, mortars, rockets, hand grenades.

 

Armoured Vehicles Nigam sales also increased to INR 49.46 billion in FY25 from INR 25.69 billion in FY22. The company produces armoured and combat vehicles and provides defence mobility solutions.

 

India Optel increased its sales to INR 15.41 billion in FY25 from 5.62 billion in FY22. It manufactures vision equipment which are used in land system platforms and battle tanks.  End
