Indian cos' invest in overseas JVs, arms up 15.4% on month at $6.81 bln Apr

MUMBAI – Investment by Indian companies in their overseas joint ventures and subsidiaries grew 15.4% to $6.81 billion in April from $5.90 billion in March, according to data released by the Reserve Bank of India on Wednesday. Indian companies made overseas investments worth $3.59 billion in April last year.
Of the total overseas investments in April, the companies had invested $2.72 billion in equity, up from $2.54 billion in the previous month. Companies committed $1.16 billion and $2.92 billion through loans and guarantees in April, respectively. The comparable figures for March are $2.13 billion and $1.24 billion, respectively. The data, based on online reporting by authorised dealer banks, is provisional and subject to change, the RBI said. End
