NEW DELHI – Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd.'s new electric sport utility vehicles BE 6 and XEV 9e secured 5-star ratings in India's crash-safety test protocol, the Bharat New Car Assessment Programme, the carmaker said in a press release Thursday.

While the XEV 9e scored 32/32 for adult occupant protection, the smaller BE 6 scored 31.93/32, the company said. Both cars scored 45 out of 49 in the child occupant protection test during the Bharat-NCAP drills. M&M's other non-electric offerings, the ROXX, XUV 3XO, and XUV400 recently received similar ratings.

The BE 6 and XEV 9e will each have three variants and the base models will be priced at INR 1.9 million and 2.2 million, respectively. Both models were launched in November, with deliveries expected to commence from March. The XEV 9e and BE 6 have been built on M&M's in-house electric architecture. In the next five years, the company plans to launch seven cars that will exclusively be electric.

For Jul-Sept, M&M had reported a net profit of INR 38.41 billion on a revenue of INR 275.53 billion. At 1351 IST, shares of M&M traded 0.7% higher at INR 2,980 apiece on the National Stock Exchange.  End
