--IMD: India Sep 26 rainfall at 11.4 mm, 132% above normal

--IMD: India Jun 1-Sep 26 rainfall at 905.6 mm, 6% above normal 

MUMBAI – Rainfall across the country was 11.4 mm today, 132% above the normal of 4.9 mm, according to the India Meteorological Department. Since Jun 1, the country has received 905.6 mm of rainfall, 6% above the normal of 853.4 mm for the period, it said.

Of the four homogeneous regions in the country, three received above-normal rainfall and one got below-normal showers today. The rainfall in east and northeast India was 149% above normal at 26.1 mm. Northwest India received 70% above rainfall at 3.7 mm and central India received a whopping 258% above normal rains at 15.1 mm. Rainfall was 14% below normal in the southern peninsula at 5.0 mm.

So far in the season, rainfall has been normal in 18 of the 36 subdivisions in the country. Rainfall was "excess" in 11, and "deficient" in five subdivisions, it said. Rainfall was "large excess" in two subdivisions, it said.  End
