NEW DELHI – The number of transactions on the Unified Payments Interface rose 45% on year to an all-time high of 16.58 billion in October, data released by the National Payments Corp of India showed. The total amount transacted during the month was INR 23.50 trillion, up 37% on year, the data showed.
Even sequentially, the numbers rose sharply. In September, the transaction volume on the Unified Payments Interface was 15.04 billion, and the transaction amount was INR 20.64 trillion. The transaction amount on the online payment system has stayed above the INR 20-trillion mark for six consecutive months now.
The average daily transaction count was 535 million in October, higher than the 501 million daily transactions recorded in September. The average daily transaction amount was INR 758.01 billion in October, against INR 688.00 billion in September, the data showed. End
