--Fincl svcs bureau recommends SBI MD Setty for SBI chairman post

MUMBAI – The Financial Services Institutions Bureau recommended Challa Sreenivasulu Setty for the position of chairman of State Bank of India, the bureau said in a social media post on X, formerly Twitter. Setty currently serves as the managing director of the bank.

The bureau interacted with three candidates for the position today, out of which Setty's name was recommended, the social media post said. The other two candidates were Ashwini Kumar Tewari and Vinay M. Tonse, various media reports said. Both of them are also managing directors of the bank.

Dinesh Khara currently holds the post of SBI chairman. His tenure is set to conclude on Aug 28, when he reaches the bank's mandatory retirement age of 63. The new chairman will take over Khara's duties the same day.

On Friday, shares of State Bank of India ended 0.6% higher at 848.95 rupees on the National Stock Exchange. End
