In the recently concluded December quarter earnings season, the Nifty Midcap 100 companies have been the best performers of the top 200 companies, though this performance is not as good as the numbers indicate at first glance. These 100 companies reported a 49.9% year–on–year increase in net profit for the December quarter, much higher than the 28.3% growth expected by analysts for 91 of these companies for which estimates are available.
